Singer/actress Mandy Moore jetted to Washington, D.C. this week (begs03Oct11) to urge U.S. officials to allocate more funds to foreign aid.

The Tangled star addressed reporters and members of Congress at the Power of 1 Per Cent Press Conference on Monday (03Oct11) and stressed the importance of continuing to provide financial help to struggling countries.

Moore then teamed up with Barbara Bush, the daughter of former U.S. president George W. Bush, on Tuesday (04Oct11) to conduct advocacy meetings with politicians from both the Senate and House of Representatives on Capitol Hill.

Less than one per cent of America's federal spending budget is currently dedicated to foreign aid and global health issues.
